<description>Hi David. I was looking up for an information on some mushrooms ,and i bumped into this article about Combucha.
You are completely wrong. I am sorry...
By education I am a micologist ,born in Russia and I love mushrooms in every way you can think about them.
Tea,the one, was drunk by muzhiks is really was Combucha. At first it came from Japan during war with them.
And was called Japanese tea. But it is nothing to do with mushroom growing on the birch trees. That one called Chaga "Чага"rus. or, Innonotus obliquus .lat. And it is mushroom.Good substitute for the tea.
Combucha ,however is not a mushroom, but colony of few types of bacterias.I had drunk both of them. Inonotus was known as a cancer fighter in Russia for centures .
Combucba was good for digestion and all sort of ulsers.stomach, and liver. It is not known in China or Japan. I mooved ftom Leningrad now St. Petersburg to Montreal and I did not have found any inonotus here.
Strangely, but fact. Plenty of birch here.
I am tea lover too.
Feel free to contact me.
